B64 BSc (Hons) Natural Sciences

The OU have released limited details concerning their new science degree structure, B64 BSc (Hons) Natural Sciences. There's a mixture of good and bad news. It looks like S104 and SXR103 are now compuslory, which is bad news because there is very little physics in either of them. However, it's possible to count SXR207 or any other 10 point residential course towards the new degree without having to do the 30 point wankfest which is SXP288 Practical Science. There's very little information on SXP288 at the moment, as it doesn't come on stream until 2012.

  1. Yes I know what you mean. It's not what a lot of us signed up for. I'm also interested in the new S230, which starts a year earlier.

Have a peek at this. There isn't much there but it's a start.

  3. Thanks for the link. I've heard a rumour that S288 will be comprised of six strands, each worth 5 points (sorry, credits). The core strands will be compulsory and the optional ones associated with a particular discipline, Physics, Chemistry, Geology etc. That appears to follow what the pdf on the website is saying.
