Continuing S283 and looking forward to starting MST124

Maybe I'm being a bit harsh here, but a tutor group forum that is totally empty is not a good look. Even if the students aren't posting questions and comments, I would at least expect the tutor to kick things off, but this looks like it's just been ignored.

On a happier note, my MST124 materials arrived during the break. They were a day later than Yodel first promised, but at least they came. The website is expected to open in 3 days from now on Tuesday 6th. It's always exciting when that happens. One of the things I did in preparation for this maths module was the installation of Maxima on my laptop. It's used quite a bit in this module apparently, but it's not the best software I've ever had the pleasure of using. I have it on good authority that it's better than Mathcad though because my wife did MST121 a few years ago and she wasn't a massive fan of it. It didn't work the first time I tried to use it because it defaulted to the wrong variant of LISP but after looking on the forums, I got the help I needed to get it going.

Towards the end of the break, I also got an email from the OU inviting me to the MST124 Revise and Refresh series of tutorials. There's 6 of them and they are all 2 hours long. Not news to me though, because I've had them in my diary of a while now.
