The modules I chose are listed above, so this gave me a list of degree titles to chose from. I had to choose one, so I plumped for 'Humanities with History' because it sounds a bit more impressive than the others, but it's a matter of opinion I suppose. Within minutes I got an email confirming my choice and was told that the degree would be conferred on 31 December.
When I woke up on 1st January I didn't feel any different, but there you go.
I thought about degree ceremonies and while they are not really my thing I decided in the end that I would like to do it anyway. After all, its a once in a lifetime event and even if I get really nervous and feel sick at least I know I will never have to do it again. I had the choice of the Barbican in London, the Dome in Brighton or Ely Cathedral as a venue. There were others, but all too far away from where I live.
Wild horses wouldn't be able to drag me to the Barbican so it was really between the other two. I discussed it with Carolyn and we finally settled on Ely. It's about 2 hours by bus-train-tube-train-walk from Bromley which she seemed OK with.
So, on Saturday 4th June I'll be putting a funny gown on and trying to keep my packed lunch down in Cambridgeshire.
